Keywords:Magnetooptical effect, Magnetic domain, Q-switch

Thin-film Q-switched laser controlled by magnetic domains was developed. The obtained peak power was 2.0 kW. The pulsed width was 27 ns. The repetition rate was 1.0 kHz. This Q-switch was more than three orders smaller than other types of active Q-switches. The principle of the Q-switching is completely different from other ones, based on the modulation of magnetic domains in magnetooptical garnet films.
