As one of typical applications of in situ observation, we introduce to control bulk heterojunction in organic photovoltaic cells. Usually, mixed layers of P3HT and PCBM were used as a photovoltaic layer, and the spin-coating films were prepared from the o-dichlorobenzene solution. In this time, we prepared the bulk heterojunction structure from the chloroform solution with low boiling point. By controlling drying speed, we have been able to control the bulk heterojunction structure. Especially, we confirmed the various structure formation by using in situ observation of grazing incidence X-ray diffraction and ultraviolet and visible light absorption spectroscopy.
