In this study, we present a new topology optimization method using level-set method and FDTD method for designing optical materials. The optimization problem is formulated as a problem to minimize or miximize optical responce. The adjoint variable method (AVM) is employed to calculate the sensitivity. The structual boundaries are represented by the iso-surface of a scalar function called level-set function, and updated based on a reaction-diffusion equation.
