In this work, the influence of the formation speed from the precursor to the perovskite on the film quality and its photovoltaic properties was evaluated in lead free MASnI3 perovskite films. The formation speed was directly controlled by employing the mixed solvent as a poor-solvent in the solvent bathing method. Employing the appropriate formation speed, a high coverage MASnI3 perovskite film with smooth surface was obtained. The solar cells using this perovskite film showed the efficiency of 2.14 ± 0.35% and the open circuit voltage of 0.45 ± 0.01 V. We propose that the significant reproducibility in efficiency and the comparably high open circuit voltage of our MASnI3 perovskite solar cells is due to the high surface coverage of the perovskite film, which was achieved using the modified solvent bathing method.
