[16a-304-2] Overview of “NEDO PV Challenges” and the future created by high performance PV

Hiroyuki Yamada1 (1.NEDO)

Keywords:NEDO PV Challenges, LCOE, high performance PV module

“NEDO PV Challenges” was established in 2014, as new strategy for research and development of PV in Japan. It aims for “strategy for support to the society after popularization”, instead of the conventional “strategy for popularization”. The strategy shows 5 challenges that are "LCOE reduction", "Enhanced reliability", "Cancellation of siting restriction", "Establishment of recycling system" and "Creation of high added value businesses". The target of "LCOE reduction" is 7JPY/kWh in 2030. Under the strategy, NEDO promotes the various research and development of PV. As a result of development, achievements of the world's highest efficient module, etc. have been produced many results. In Such results will lead to the creation of solar power system market in various areas different from conventional areas, such as transport or building sector.
