▼ [16a-315-13] Reactivity of plasma-excited H2O in CH4/CO2 reforming
Keywords:Dielectric barrier discharge, Greenhouse gas, Methane reforming
Reaction enhancement induced by plasma-excited H2O in dry methane reforming (CH4 + CO2 → 2H2 + 2CO) was investigated. Solid carbon is deposited via CH4 dehydrogenation (CH4 → C + 2H2) and catalyst activity is deteriorated markedly. Non-equilibrium plasma activated H2O produced by reverse water-gas shift reaction (H2 + CO2 → H2O + CO), which played an essential role of oxidizing adsorbed methane fragments into syngas (CHx + H2O → (2 + x)/2 H2 + CO), leading to the suppression of solid carbon formation and the higher syngas yield. Reaction enhancement induced by excited H2O indicates that the reaction order of H2O is increased by non-equilibrium plasma.
