[16a-414-9] High resolution temperature wave analysis (TWA) using micro sensor and its application to liquid crystal phase transition

Meguya Ryu1, Junko Morikawa1 (1.Tokyo Institute of Technology)

Keywords:liquid crystal, thermal diffusivity, phase transition

For the observation of thermal properties during phase transition of liquid crystal with temperature wave analysis method (TWA), it is important to improve the temperature resolution for the measurement accuracy. In this study, thermocouple microsensor was used to improve the thermal diffusivity measurement temperature resolution during temperature scanning. 0.2 K temperature resolution measurement was applied to thermal diffusivity change of typical liquid crystal phase transition such as 5 OCB. The technique can be applied for the detection of mesophase by precise thermophysical properties measurement.
