Guided-Mode-Resonance (GMR) optical biosensors have recently received increasing attention for bio-medical detection applications due to the unique advantages of simple structure and label-free detection. While good sensitivity and limit of detection (LOD) of GMR biosensors are achieved, it is still desirable to enhance the sensitivity and LOD to achieve more sensitive detection for practical applications. In this paper, we present preliminary results on developing new GMR biosensors with gold nano-particles.
