Keywords:Laser diode, Laser cavity, Two-dimensional cavity

In the research field of two-dimensional optical microcavities, Gaussian-optical approach is widely used for obtaining approximate solutions to the resonance modes quantized along stable periodic orbits. In this work, we studied the accuracy of the approximate solutions by comparing the Gaussian beam profiles with the solutions obtained using the Fox-Li mode calculation method for simple stable two-mirror resonators. First, we discuss the relationship between the beam width confined in the cavity and the approximation accuracy. Then we discuss the influence of the mirror deformation.
