[16a-423-2] Development on the particle number concentration standard in liquid with the simultaneous measurement of the mass of suspension type optical particle counter with a pulse height analyzer

Keywords:particle number concentration

AIST has developed a Simultaneous-Measurement-of-Mass-Type Optical Particle Counter (SMM - OPC). The mother particle suspension to be measured was diluted with dilution ratio R. The diluted suspension sample was counted with SMM-OPC and a mas of the suspension was measured. And a particle number concentration of the mother suspension was determined. In the result on 2 μm diameter particle sample, a number concentration 1182 /mg, expanded uncertainty 34 /mg was obtained. The main part of the uncertainty was the statistical variation in the number of particles contained in a suspension. Compared to the uncertainty of the current standard, it turned out that it decreased to about 2/3.
