[16a-P1-13] Visualization of optical rotation

Toshihide Tsuru1, Toshiyasu Tadokoro2 (1.Yamagata Univ., 2.Techno Synergy, Inc.)

Keywords:optical rotation, polarization

Although “polarization” is a fundamental property of light, it is one of the phenomena hard to understand for students due to an invisible phenomena. In particular, "optical rotation" in which the plane of vibration of a linearly polarized light shows a continuous rotation as it propagates along their pass is the most difficult to understand. In this study, we developed two teaching materials that visualize optical rotations using easily available materials.
