Among various methods of preparing REBCO thin films, fluorine-free MOD is one of the most promising method for mass production. Our group has been focusing on Cl-addition to the YBCO raw solution, which results in generation of oxychloride Ba2Cu3O4Cl2 (Ba2342). It was found that Ba2342 precipitates helped biaxial alignment of YBCO matrix and improved Jc properties. It was revealed from cross-sectional observation of Cl-added YBCO films that Ba2342 precipitates were coherently connected to YBCO with high lattice matching. We will report various effects of oxyhalide for fluorine-free MOD processed YBCO thin films in the meeting.
