△ [16p-318-4] Introduction of Sm2BaCuO5 as Artificial Pinning Centers into SmBa2Cu3Oy Coated Conductors Fabricated in Vapor-Liquid-Solid Growth Mode
Keywords:superconductivity, REBCO coated conductor, Vapor-Liquid-Solid growth
Vapor-Liquid-Solid (VLS) growth mode is a liquid-assisted vapor phase epitaxy. This mode can provides high quality REBa2Cu3Oy (RE123) films at a high rate. However, it is difficult to introduce artificial pinning centers (APCs) into RE123 films in this mode because BaMO3 (M=Metal), the representative material for APC, is insoluble into the Ba-Cu-O liquid phase. In this study, Sm2BaCuO5 (Sm211) was introduced into Sm123 films in the VLS mode as an APC because of their solubility in the liquid phase. Those films had a better in-field properties compared with pure Sm123 films grown in the same mode. The result indicates that Sm211 acts as the APCs in the Sm123 matrix.
