[16p-422-2] A method for measuring birefringence distribution of uniaxial organic materials

We will present a new method for measuring birefringence distribution in uniaxial organic materials. In previous works, such measurments can be applied only for materials with cylindrical symmetry. On the other hand, the presented method can be applied even for materials with no cylindrical symmetry. In the method, a sample is observed from multiple angles measuring retardation. From the retardation data, the birefringence distribution is calculated using Fourier slice theorem. Details of experimental system and calculation method will be presented.
