Co-ferrite films on MgO (001) substrates exhibit perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA). It is known that this PMA is caused by magneto-elastic effects in a tetragonally distorted crystal structure such as a thin film with a substrate-induced epitaxial strain. In this study, we introduced a spinel oxide with a larger lattice constant than MgO as buffer layers and deposited Co-ferrite on them. We confirmed that the larger strain was introduced into Co-ferrite films than that on MgO, and magnetic anisotropy were also enhanced.
