[17a-F204-5] Theoretical Analysis of Waveguide Light Scattering for Silicon Photonics

Silicon waveguides have a large refractive index difference, and numerical analysis requires 3D full wave model. In order to apply the three-dimensional full-wave model to arbitrary shape of silicon waveguide, we applied orthogonal curve coordinates with a coordinate axis as the center-line of waveguide to Maxwell's equations. The bending and taper shape of the waveguide is expressed by two curvature functions. In this presentation, we will discuss numerical analysis results on light scattering for Si-waveguides.
