Recent studies revealed that cells in the central nerve system changes their various cell functions in response to mechanical cues in their surrounding environment during their development. In this study we investigate how neuronal cell growth can be controlled with mechanically-patterned polymer hydrogel substrate, which is an essential technique for realizing artificial neural network in vitro.
