Agglomeration of nanoparticles is an important process of laser melting in liquids for producing submicrometer-sized particles (SMPs). We have demonstrated that the nanoparticle agglomeration can be dynamically induced by laser irradiation when nanoparticles stabilized by reagents are used, because the stabilizing reagents are removed by laser irradiation. In the present research, we propose a novel model of formation process of SMPs in which nanoparticle size dependency of agglomeration efficiency are considered, and demonstrate that this model is usable to control SMP size.
