Conducting polymers are recently attracting attentions as promising candidates for thermoelectric materials because of low environmental burden, low cost of fabrication, abundance of raw materials, flexibility, and solution processability. Furthermore, organic compounds have relatively low thermal conductivities, which are beneficial for realizing high thermoelectric performances. Charge transport mechanisms of conducting polymers have been intensively studied for the last few decades. On the other hand, Seebeck effects of organic compounds including conducing polymers are not well-understood. In this paper, thermoelectric properties of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) : poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) were investigated in correlation with oxidation level measured by a potential-step chronocoulometry (PSC) method.
