Over the past two decades, in vitro compartmentalization (IVC) technique has been widely used to produce cell-like compartments using conventional methods of homogenizers and vortexing, microfluidic-based approaches and single-nozzle electrospray. But all these technologies have their own disadvantages leading to the search for a new technology. Here, we report to develop a novel platform by integrating immersed electrospray with micro-hole array (384 holes) to generate highly monodisperse water-in-oil or agarose-in-oil droplets of 1fL in just 5 minutes with increased library size to 1011-12.
