Optical wireless power transmission (OWPT) is attractive for various applications, but low power supply efficiency is an issue. The multiplication of the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the light source and the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the photoreceiver is the upper limit of the power supply efficiency, so the power supply efficiency is in the range of 10% in typical device usage. Although its improvement is not easy, efficiency of semiconductor laser and solar cell of light source increases at low temperature. For this reason, high efficiency of the optical wireless power supply system can be expected by utilization in a low temperature system and local cooling of the supplied and power receiving parts.
Therefore, in this research, in order to elucidate the applicability of lowering the temperature of optical wireless power feeders, this time we report on the fundamental analysis of power transmission efficiency with respect to temperature.
