In the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station, In-situ analysis classification and surveillance of nuclear fuel debris and contaminated structures in damaged nuclear core was one of the most important and special R&D. But by the strong radiation field, analytical methods for simple, remote, and in-situ techniques will not established. In JAEA/CLADS, we have been developing the special laser remote analysis by Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) using with radiation resistant optical fiber for laser and plasma emission light delivery, and basic performance such as quantitatively and qualitatively, plasma generation and emission under strong radiation condition, have been checked and confirmed its applicability. And for the requirement of longer application in remote analysis, we are now developing “Microchip laser LIBS system” in which the laser source will be installed at the top of the optical fiber, and a good performance under strong radiation of 10kGy/h is confirmed.
