[18p-431B-7] The structural property change of SrTiO3(001) surface by surface treatment
Keywords:SrTiO3, MEIS, PES
High-resolution MEIS analysis revealed unambiguously that the mechanically cut and then chemically etched STO(001) surface is terminated perfectly with SL-TiO2(001) and the (2×1)-reconstructed surface formed by annealing in UHV is terminated with DL-TiO2(001). Annealing the surface in UHV induces atomic rearrangement in the subsurface region probably initiated at step edges, which starts from 200℃ for as-supplied substrates (SL-TiO 2 ) and from 400℃ for re-etched surface (DL-TiO 2 ). After annealing at 400-800℃ the (2×1) surface emerges, onto which crystalline RS-SrO(001) clusters grow epitaxially with two atomiclayer height and the [100]-axis parallel to the [110]-axis of STO(001).
