We have fabricated β-type PVDF films by using a solution coating method, which is a simple method of applying and drying a PVDF solution (a polar solvent), demonstrating that the PVDF films can be applied to highly sensitive hydrogen gas sensors. In this study, we examined a novel poling method of controlling a polarization in the PVDF films by using thiol-modified gold electrode surfaces.
