The metamaterial perfect absorber, which confines light in the photoelectric conversion layer, was introduced into the organic thin-film solar cell and the light absorption of the organic solar cell increase by a factor of 18%. The metamaterial perfect absorber can confine light in a thin film. The light confinement enhances light absorption and improves power generation efficiency of organic thin film solar cells without the disadvantage of increase in charge recombination due to the thick photoelectric conversion layer.
