▲ [19a-222-6] Electrochemical Control of Ion Flow through Au Nanostraw Membrane for Cellular Delivery Injection
Keywords:PEDOT/Au nanostraw membrane, expansion of PEDOT layer, delivery rate control
Delivering ions and molecules into the cell has become an important challenge in biological and medical research fields. Examples include gene injection to create induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells or to inhibit gene expression inside the cells, which is called as RNA interference. Common molecular delivery, however, has several issues such as physical and chemical damage to functional cells. To overcome these issues, Miyake's group demonstrates a direct delivering of molecules into adhesive cells with Au nanostraw membrane stamping. Furthermore, we demonstrate to control the ion flow with the applied potential to Au nanostraw membrane. To this end, we polymerized the PEDOT layer on the Au membrane. Without a voltage applied, calcine ions diffuse into the target solution. In contrast, when we applied the voltage to PEDOT/Au nanostraw membrane, ion flow was blocked due to the expansion of PEDOT layer inside Au nanostraws.
