Since single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have various excellent electrical characteristics, they are expected to be applied to the electronics field. However, to realize that, it is essential to equalize chirality and increase yield. In our group, we have tried growth of SWCNT with high chirality uniformity by using platinum group element with high melting point as a catalyst. As a result, it was reported that SWCNT with diameter of less than 1 nm and narrow chirality distribution grows by using Pt catalyst. However, there was a problem that when the Pt catalyst was used, the amount of SWCNT produced was small. In this study, SWCNT grown vertically by SWCNT growth using Ir catalyst could be obtained. The diameter of grown SWCNT is about 1 nm or less, which is considered to be the SWCNT growing with a relatively narrow chiral distribution.
