We are developing a Yb: YAG TRAM laser using water collision jet cooling method and zero phonon line excitation with the goal of developing a room temperature driven high power laser. In this research, oscillation tests were conducted using a cooling device prototyped for high power output, and its output and medium characteristics were examined. As a result, a stable output up to 180 W was obtained due to the improvement of cooling performance. We also investigated the Yb density and layer thickness effect, and clarified that high output characteristics can be obtained with media of lower density and lower layer thickness.
