[19a-431B-5] A continuous wave diode-pumped Er:YAP laser at 2.92 μm

An Er:YAP is attractive for laser medium a mid-IR solid state laser because that has low phono energy, high thermal conductivity similar to a YAG, and good mechanical properties. In this research, CW operation at 2.92 µm was demonstrated by diode-pumped Er:YAP. The slope efficiency of 30 % close to quantum defect slope efficiency was obtained without optimizing the cavity from experimental results. The above results indicated that Er:YAP is suitable for a laser medium of mid-IR solid state lasers.
