We develop a novel method in fluorescent laser scanning microscopy that enables fast acquisition of three-dimensional images of a specimen without moving the observation plane by scanning a needle-shaped excitation spot produced by a non-diffracting Bessel beam. The generated fluorescent signal at each scanning position is converted into an Airy beam with self-bending property to extract the depth information of the specimen. Here, we demonstrate three-dimensional image reconstruction based on the principle.
