Wood is used for various products. Laser micro-fabrication of wood is important. A CO2 laser is absorbed by the wood. Therefore, the CO2 laser will drill the wood. In drilling of wood by the CO2 laser, the control of laser pulse waveform may be important for the improvement of drilling efficiency and the control of HAZ. Therefore, we used a longitudinally excited CO2 laser to control the laser pulse waveform. In this work, a drilling depth of 2.513 mm was produced by a total irradiation fluence of 1476 J/cm2.
