[19a-PB2-5] Synthesis of RE124 superconductors by sintering in quartz ampoule and their physical properties

RE124, which is a family compound of RE123, is known to be only formed under a high partial oxygen pressure. Therefore, the physical properties of RE124 have not been well understood yet. In order to investigate the physical properties of RE124, RE124 sintered bulks with several different RE elements were synthesized in the quartz ampoule enclosed with the proper amount of the oxygen source materials to control the oxygen pressure. We have successfully prepared almost single phase RE124 sintered bulks, and the superconducting properties of the obtained materials will be reported.
