In coaxial holographic data storage, the three-dimensional (3D) shift multiplexed recording combining lateral shift of a medium and focal plane shift with virtual varifocal lens is proposed. The appropriate multiplexing condition is determined by evaluating the 3D shift selectivity. The proposed method is experimentally demonstrated. The multiplexed recording is implemented at recordable positions determined from the 3D shift selectivity evaluated from single recording. As a result, less-crosstalk is confirmed by the proposed method.
