[19p-222-7] Control of Phase Separation in Freestanding Lipid Bilayer over Microwells

We are aiming to fabricate a nanobiodevice which works with membrane proteins in a lipid bilayer suspended over microwells on a Si substrate. By introducing a raft-like structure in freestanding membranes, the arrangement and the function of membrane proteins will be controlled. In this paper, we supply necessary amount of unsaturated lipid molecules which constituting L_a phase by vesicle fusion with freestanding membranes of L_o phase and control the L_a/L_o phase separation. We confirmed that a small L_o domain in the freestanding membrane was remained for long time more than 24 hours.
