▼ [19p-231C-3] Etching Effect on Electrospun Ag/QR/PMMA Freestanding Film for Volatile Organic Compounds Detection

Electrospinning technique is widely used to prepare a large number of submicron- and nano-scale VOCs sensing fibers. The nanostructured VOCs sensing fibers has high sensitivity due to their high specific surface area. We developed fibrous composite materials consisted of silver nanoparticles, CdSe/CdS quantum rods, and poly(methyl methacrylate) (Ag/QR/PMMA). The silver nanoparticles was used to enhance the sensitivity due to surface plasma resonance. The Ag/QR/PMMA was treated with UV-ozone for double-sided etching to further increase the sensitivity. By observing the polarization properties, we found that when the sensing material was aligned with the original fiber arrangement at 90 degrees, it shows a higher extinction. Herein, the Ag/QR/PMMA sensing fibers was rotated at 90 degrees and treated with UV/ozone etching on both sides for 15 min. The Ag/QR/PMMA can detected the ethyl acetate, propyl acetate, n-propanol, n-butanol, and chlorobenzene with high concentration (10,000 ppm) immediately. Moreover, it satisfies the detection limit of n-butanol at 100ppm.
