We have developed a 48- and 57-µm CH3OD laser pumped by a 9R(8) CO2 laser as an optical source of interferometer/polarimeter for future fusion plasma diagnostics. These FIR lasers can be oscillated simultaneously. For these applications, high power and high quality laser beams are required. The laser output coupler is an important optical element in order to realize this requirement, but there is no suitable one for these FIR lasers. Therefore, we have tested a laser output mirror combining a semi-insulating 6H-SiC substrate and a metal mirror with a center hole. As a result, it was confirmed that the 48- and 57-µm CH3OD laser oscillated.
