[19p-438-6] Development of a Short Range LD LIDAR for the Atmospheric Water Vapor

Michihiro Uchiumi1 (1.NIT Ariake Col.)

Keywords:differential absorption LIDAR, tapered amplifier

We have been developing a compact differential Absorption LIDAR system for the atmospheric water vapor. In order to realize the high range resolution, we uses laser diodes and a taper amplifier. The lidar has a short measurement range less than 2 km but a short range resolution less than 15 m. The repitition rate was increased up to about 20 kHz. It was found that the signal to noise ratio was improved eight times larger than the previous one.
