Surface alignment control allows us to imprint complex orientational easy axis which contains defects. In these defects, nonsingular defects exist, where director stands up in local areas. They are observable when thick cells are used, but it is difficult to stabilize them because of own line tension. Here, we demonstrate the protocol to generate nonsingular wall defects through surface alignment control.
