[20p-212A-7] Interband transition in PbTe/PbSnTe-based type-II superlattice

PbTe/PbSnTe-based type-II superlattices were prepared for the application to interband cascade lasers (ICLs) in the mid-infrared and undeveloped 25-50 µm terahertz regions. We measured optical transmission spectrum of the PbTe(5nm)/Pb(1-x)Sn(x)Te(5nm)/CaTe superlattice and observed a strong interband absorption from the valence-band subband in PbSnTe quantum well to the conduction subband in PbTe well, which shows a potential application to the long wavelength ICLs.
