▲ [20p-221B-11] Optical properties of vertically stacked MoTe2/WSe2 heterostructure
Keywords:transition metal dichalcogenides, van der Waals heterostructure, Type I
Van der Waals heterostructures, which comprise layered materials of different kinds, are oftentimes favored as to harvest the advantages from each constituting components with improved functionalities. Transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC)-based heterostructures especially, have generated much attention for their unique optical and electronic properties. TMDC-heterostructures of MoSe2/WSe2 and MoS2/WSe2 for instance, have shown longer valley lifetime that is potentially useful for spin/valleytronics application. Nonetheless, the majority of them forms a Type-II band alignment, where electrons and holes are confined at the separate layers. The TMDC-heterostructure with a Type-I band alignment, which is the fundamental model to many sophisticated semiconductor optoelectronic devices, remains less explored. Herein, we report the optical properties of a Type I heterostructure, realized using MoTe2 and WSe2.
