Keywords:plasmon, strong coupling, absorption spectroscopy

The exchange rates of a photon between plasmon resonance and molecular resonance at the gap of metallic nanoparticle dimers exceed their dephasing rates, resulting in generation of strong coupling systems. Under the strong coupling regime, excited molecular electronic states are modulated by plasmon, suggesting the generation of unique photochemical reactions. Absorption spectroscopy of the strong coupling system is needed for the evaluation of such reactions. We carry out scattering and extinction spectroscopy of single metallic nanoparticle dimers to realize the evaluation.
