△ [20p-231A-2] Investigation of Surface Modification of Semiconductor Photoelectrodes for Stabilization of Photoelectrochemical Cells for Solar-Driven Hydrogen Production
Keywords:water splitting, photoelectrode, hydrogen production
Water splitting using a photoelectrochemical cell, which consists of semiconductor photoelectrodes connected in a series, is a promising method to produce carbon-free hydrogen from sunlight and water. However, it has been known that heavy metal cations eluted from the photoelectrode surface into the electrolyte can cause catalyst poisoning and degradation of the cell performance. In this work, we attempted suppression of the elution by surface coating of photoanodes with anion conductive ionomers.
