[20p-232-1] Biosensors based on photonic crystal

Principle and applications of biosensing based on GaInAsP semiconductor photonic crystal are discussed. Optical cavity sensors are known to detect the environmental index change as a wavelength shift. But the photonic crystal sensor also detects the change of surface charge, resulting in iontronic sensitivity, which contributes to the high sensitivity. The detection of low-concentration generic proteins and biomarkers, simple measurement system, and examples of their use are presented.
