We report the experimental verification of a focus sensor using interference fringes in the reflected/diffracted light beams from a periodical one-dimensional structure, which is embeded inside a disc. For this purpose we have improved the jitter of a turntable and a focus-loop has been closed with the focus error signal we obtain.
