Keywords:artificial photosynthesis, porphyrin

In our laboratory, we paid attention to use sunlight on artificial photosynthesis which can change water into hydrogen and oxygen to provide hydrogen energy. As one of the subject for achievement of an artificial photosynthesis, it is very important to collect sunlight efficiently. For this achievement, using porphyrin is beneficial. As part of porphyrin chemistry, we have been developing methods for the synthesis of versatile porphyrin building blocks bearing a wide range of functionality. In my work, I tried to synthesize 5,15-diphenyl-10,20-bis(2,4dihydroxy)phenylporphyrin. Also, in our previous study, step-π-conjugated polymer (SPP) as macromolecular wire was synthesized using 1,2,3-trihydroxybenzene and aldehydes including donor and acceptor. Here, we attempt to introduce porphyrin into this polymer and report electron transfer from porphyrin, an electron donor, to an anthraquinone, an electron acceptor via SPP.
