We define a step-π-conjugated polymer, which alternately consists of a small π-conjugated molecule as like as a benzene unit and a sp3-methine carbon. The benzene units have no coplanar each other. Therefore, no strong interaction exists between benzene units; however, superexchange and/or hopping of electrons occur. That is the polymer works as a macromolecular wire. The step-π-conjugated polymers were prepared by addition-condensation of trihydroxybenzene with aldehyde. In this paper, we synthesized a polymer capable of accumulating charges at high density aiming at application to electronic materials, and the bond formation of polymer and gold (gold nanoparticles) was confirmed.
