We have synthesized Cu(I)-halide complexes, [Cu2I2(PPh3)2(PDI)2] and [Cu2Br2(PPh3)2(PDI)2], with Cu-C bond by using the ligand of isocyanide. Under the exposure of UV light with the wavelength of 350 nm, the obtained complexes exhibited pale blue and blue-green emission, respectively. The color changes due to the temperature. The luminescence of [Cu2I2(PPh3)(PDI)2] and [Cu2Br2(PPh3)2(PDI)2] were derived from the excimer based on the dipole-dipole interaction above 215 and 209 K, respectively. TD-DFT calculations revealed that the luminescence of [Cu2I2(PPh3)2(PDI)2] and [Cu2Br2(PPh3)2(PDI)2] are attributed to XLCT and (X+M)LCT, respectively.
