Although grain-size effect has been repeatedly reported in Barium Titanate (BT) ceramics, it has not been reported clearly in Ba-excess or Ti-excess BT ceramics. It is not well established whether grain-size effect is observed in Ba-excess or Ti-excess BT ceramics. Moreover, the properties observed in such non-stoichiometric BT ceramics is not well understood whether they are influenced by Ba/Ti ratio or by grain-size effect. Therefore, in this research, BT ceramics with Ba-excess, stoichiometric and, Ti-excess compositions having similar grain-sizes were fabricated by solid-state synthesis and the resultant properties are compared with respect to Ba/Ti ratios. It is expected that this research would help for better understanding of the influence of stoichiometry on the propeties of BT ceramics.
