[20p-PB5-48] Characterizations of Nd-doped garnet crystals as scintillators

We have grown and characterized Nd-doped garnet crystals (Y₃Al₅O₁₂, Y₃Al₂Ga₃O₁₂, Gd₃Al₂Ga₃O₁₂, Lu₃Al₅O₁₂, and Lu₃Al₂Ga₃O₁₂) as scintillators. All the samples exhibited luminescence due to the 4f-4f transitions of Nd³⁺, which appeared around 1050 nm. However, the scintillation intensity depnded on the host crystal, and it appeared to be in an order of LuAG>YAG>GAGG>YAGG>LuAGG.
