▲ [21a-211B-6] Design of Mode Filter using Asymmetric Loop Bragg Fiber
Keywords:Mode Filter, Bragg Fiber, Asymmetric Loop
This paper presents the procedure for designing a mode filter using Bragg fiber having asymmetric loop boundary. A Bragg fiber having low refractive index core and alternating high-low refractive index of cladding layers is studied. Since the Bragg fiber has low refractive index core, Tatal Internal Reflection fails for light propagation. An another light propagating technique known as photonic band gap formation is applicable for this device. Finite Difference Method and Transfer Matrix Method are used to compute modes of this device. Thickness of cladding (l) is varied to control number of modes that are shown in modal dispersion characteristics which is plotted between normalized propagation constant (b) and normalized frequency (V).
